Statement of Faith
Old Roman Creed (Romanum Creed) (circa 125-135AD):
I believe in God the Father almighty;
and in Christ Jesus His only Son, our Lord,
Who was born from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary,
Who under Pontius Pilate was crucified and buried,
on the third day rose again from the dead,
ascended to heaven,
sits at the right hand of the Father,
whence He will come to judge the living and the dead,
and in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Church,
the remission of sins,
the resurrection of the flesh
(the life everlasting).
The Trinity:
The uncreated God who made all things, exists as three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Christ and The Kingdom of God:
Jesus Christ alone is Savior, Lord, and King. His earthly ministry, culminating in the crucifixion and literal bodily resurrection on the 3rd day atones for the sin of the world.
Salvation and Resurrection:
Human rebellion and sin separate us all from God under whose just and holy wrath we stand. Christ’s crucifixion and death on the cross are the means of atonement and salvation for humankind. Salvation is by grace through Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Christ’s resurrection from the dead on the 3rd day foreshadows the bodily resurrection of all He saves.
View of Holy Scripture:
The Bible is the infallible, divinely inspired Word of God; its authority is transcendent, absolute, and eternal.
Christian Morality and Living:
Holy Scripture provides the guidelines and standards for marriage, family, and all matters concerning relationships between the two sexes: man and woman. God defines marriage as the life-long covenant between one genetic man and one genetic woman, and that all forms of sexual activity outside of marriage are sin.
Sacredness of Human Life:
Human beings are uniquely created in the image and likeness of God. The incarnation of Christ in the womb of the Virgin Mary demonstrated God’s supreme love for humanity and the sanctity of all human life.
Christian Unity:
Christ desires that His church be one united body and shine forth God’s love into the world.
